Earth Day 2017 celebration at Lodha World School Palava

World Earth Day 2017 will be celebrated by the people all over the world on Saturday, 22nd of April. This day is celebrated every year as an annual event by the people all across the world on 22nd of April, in order to increase the awareness among people about environment safety as well as to demonstrate the environmental protection measures. The theme of World Earth Day 2017 was decided to be “Environmental and Climate Literacy”.

Based on the theme, the students of Lodha World School, Palava, decided to take it on themselves to educate their fellow students regarding diverse issues faced by our earth ranging from day to day environmental deterioration, air and water pollution, ozone layer deterioration, industrialization, deforestation, oil spills, set up of polluting factories, power plants, use and production of pesticides.

To elaborate on the origin of ‘World earth day’ and why it is celebrated, Mast. Harsh Parida of Std VI gave a short speech which was followed by a poetic rendition on ‘Wonders of nature’ by Ms. Pranjli Pundir of Std VI. The students of Std V and VI performed a skit in Hindi titled ‘Pradushan ka Badhta Prabhav’ in which they effectively demonstrated the adverse effects of pollution on environment causing changes in seasonal patterns, concluding the program.

On the whole the event was a great success as it had a desirable impact on the young minds and were definitely motivated to save the environment.
