Study Trip Kaas Plateau

The students of grade 8 went on a 2 day educational tour to Satara, Maharashtra on 25th – 26th September 2018. On day 1 of the tour, a visit was made to Thoseghar Waterfalls which is a scenic spot located at 20kms from Satara city. There is a series of waterfalls at Thoseghar, the largest one at an altitude of about 250 meters. The place with a breathtaking view of the valleys left the students marveled. The place also has a lot of butterflies and wild flowering plants.
On the second day, the ever curious student lot was taken to Kaas Plateau. Kaas is a UNESCO world natural heritage site. Located at an altitude of 1200 meters, and spreading over 1000 hectares, Kaas is a biodiversity hotspot owing to the endemic varieties of flowers like Smithia, Utricularia, Linum and Impatiens and butterflies like Common Mormon, Wanderer and various Pansy species found there. The students were spellbound with the variety of the colourful flower blossoms and the humongous expanse of the place.
The tour, with its unique offerings, was quite a fulfilling and learning experience for the students.
