We at Lodha World School, Thane celebrated our 68th Republic Day in the true spirit of nationalism and patriotic fervour. Held on the school grounds, the program was a joint initiative of children, teachers and parents who came to grace the event. Apart from the early morning hoisting of the country’s flag and the spirited songs by the children, we also had a display of taekwondo activities and fitness regime by the children of classes IV, V and VI. Self Defense being the need of the hour, the students exhibited immense grit, tenacity and discipline for which they are trained throughout the academic year. Harsh Seth of class VI stunned everybody with the way he tackled challenges in taekwondo. Lavanya Khandelwal, Kritika Bhandari of class V and Shridhar Kale of class VI were also commendable.
This year, as an initiative to spread environmental awareness, the school had nature and wildlife expert Mr.Mridul Modi from Pugmarks joining them for the event. Mr Modi identified and named trees on the school ground along with Abin Koshy, Yashraj Pawar and Paridhi Gupta of class IX. The children had an interactive session with Mr. Modi on the various trees that have been planted in and around the school. This was a unique element of this year’s Republic Day celebration.
With the spirit of patriotism in the air, even the little ones of kindergarten did not sit back at home but joined our principal Ma’am Ms. Asha Narayanan in flag hoisting and enthusiastically encouraged their seniors in the martial art activities. Truly, it was a celebration that was in line with the present needs of the country and in sync with its rich national history.
