Til gul, a sweetmeat made from sesame seeds and jaggery, is exchanged between family and friends during Makar Sankranti in Maharashtra. The phrase, ‘til gul ghya, god god bola’, which means, ‘take the sesame seeds jaggery laddoos and speak sweetly’ is said while doing so. This year to imbibe the value of love, friendship and sweet communication, the Lodha World School, Thane celebrated Makar Sankranti on 14.1.2019 in school.
The students of class I and II were asked to get the laddoo mixture from home and made laddoos in the class. The laddoos were distributed to the teachers, staff and parents. It indeed was an enriching experience for the students.
